LAKE DALLAS — the Lady Eagles clinched their second district title last week, but in their final regular season game they defeated Lake Dallas 4-0 to conclude a perfect district record. In an email, Head Coach Rafael Flores said that the game was the final tune-up heading into the post-season.

“We’ve got a pretty long break to heal up and prepare for our first round opponent, so we really wanted to finish strong,” Flores said. “We did want to finish the season undefeated, so we had that in the back of our minds.”

Flores said that his team was dominant, controlling the possession for most of the game, but struggled to find the goal early on. His team rallied together and dropped a ball behind the Lady Falcon back line late in the first, and sophomore Hailey Davidson ran on and finished it off for the 1-0 lead.

After a halftime pep talk and a few adjustments, the Lady Eagles wasted no time scoring in the second. Sophomore Diana Ordonez ran behind the defense and beat the keeper. Junior Kat Rogers followed with a 30-yard rocket off the post and into the goal. Senior Gabby Gamboa finished off the scoring, showcasing her dribbling abilities to beat the Lady Falcon keeper and slip the ball into the back of the net.

Currently, Flores and his team expect to play either Frisco Heritage or Frisco Reedy in the opening round of playoffs.

“The girls are eager to get playoffs going,” Flores said. “We look forward to some intense practices over the next two weeks to stay sharp and fine-tune everything. We aren’t going to do our best to use this long break to our advantage.”
