Three Anna runners turned in individual gold-medal performances on Thursday, March 2, at the Anna High School Invitational track meet at Coyote Stadium. Junior sprinter Tamaya Tutson claimed two first-place prizes, winning both the 100- and the 200-meter races with times of 13.38 and 27.18 seconds, respectively. In the 400 meters, Coyote senior Elijah Smith won gold with a time of 50.37 seconds and Lady Coyote sophomore Madison Hemenway topped the field in the 1,600 meters in 5 minutes, 36.16 seconds. Hemenway also claimed second in the 3,200 meters, with a time of 12 minutes, 7.68 seconds.

The Lady Coyotes’ 1,600-meter relay team of Tutson, Jada Ramirez, Raye Moran and Jasmin Pender won gold as well with a time of 4 minutes, 10.35 seconds. Ramirez also earned silver in the 200, one second behind Tutson. Also taking silver for Anna were seniors Daunte Rose, who threw the shot put 41 feet, 11.5 inches, and Moran, who finished the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 22.61 seconds.

As a team, the Lady Coyotes finished fifth in the seven-team field and the Coyotes came in sixth.
