Anna’s tennis team recently inaugurated the school’s new tennis complex with matches against Caddo Mills and Dallas Pinkston on Thursday, Feb. 9, and Farmersville on Friday, Feb. 10.
Coyote varsity and JV players competed against opposing teams’ varsity teams and did well, defeating all three schools with a combined score of 15-2.
Seven Coyotes got their first career win in their first career meet. Top performers for the girls over the two days included freshman Emily McDonald, who went 5-0 in her first career matches, and junior Aly Fudge, who also went 5-0 in her first action. On the boys side, freshmen Jesus Garrido and Simon Geren also cruised through their competition, 5-0 and 6-0, respectively.
Overall, the team posted a 45-6 individual-match record for the two meets.
“The tennis complex is amazing,” Anna head coach Vince Sharp said. “It is one of the premier (Class) 4A tennis complexes in the state.”
The Coyotes travel to Princeton for a tournament on Feb. 23-24 and will return to face Bonham and Celina at home on Feb. 27.
