The Melissa Cardinals rallied to defeat Class 5A Denison, 43-40, on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Denison High School. The Cardinals trailed, 34-27, after three quarters before dominating the final stanza for the win.

The game was tied at halftime, 19-all.

This was the second straight win for Melissa (3-3), coming on the heels of Saturday’s victory over Mexia by an identical score.

Sophomore Matt Holloway and freshman Brendon Lewis led Cardinal scorers with 13 and 11 points, respectively, as senior Gunnar Murphy tallied 9.
