Anna suffered a third consecutive defeat on Friday — a 41-0 stinger at the hands of the Paris Wildcats (6-3, 4-0) — after six straight wins to open the season. With the win, Paris claimed at least a share of the District 7-4A Div. I championship. The Coyotes (6-3, 1-3) will still make the playoffs with a win in their regular-season finale versus Princeton at home on Friday, Nov. 4.
Paris running back Donovan Williams rambled for over 300 yards and four touchdowns.
“They’re a very good team,” Coyotes head coach Jason Heath said. “I think they’re the best team we’ve faced. Their offensive line is huge and they’ve got two good backs in their running back and quarterback. I just didn’t feel like we came out and competed very well, for whatever reason.”
He added that there had been some mistakes that were unusual for his team.
“We did some things that had been uncharacteristic as far as alignment on defense,” he said. “We didn’t play good assignment football, I guess you could say. … Offensively, our first possessions in the first half we had two three-and-outs and our long drive, we finished it with an interception. We couldn’t get much going offensively. (Paris) did a great job defensively.”
