The Cardinal wrestling teams competed in their final tournament, held at Frisco Heritage High School, before the district tournament on Friday.

Chase Simmons won first place which is his fourth tournament placing on junior varsity moving his JV record to 12-1. Simmons will move to varsity for district competition.

The varsity girls team also competed over the Jan. 18 weekend. The girls squad showed well, honing its skills for the district tournament to be held in Prosper on Friday and Saturday. Ambriana Ricks placed third, defeating Lewisville in the consolation championship for her first medal.

"Congrats to all the wrestlers for a successful regular season," Melissa Coach Rich Gagrin said.
