Instead of taking a night off on their district bye-week, the Lady Cardinals decided to get some extra playing time in and traveled to Pilot Point on Oct. 11. Melissa faced a tough team and lost in four games for what was only its fourth loss of the season.
The Lady Cardinals rebounded with a win over Anna on the following Tuesday. They will look to get their sixth district win of the season on Friday when they travel to Community. The overall record for the Lady Cards is now 23-4 with an undefeated district record of 5-0.
Pilot Point 3,
Melissa struggled in their non-district contest against Pilot Point, winning just one game in the four game set. They were close in every contest, losing the first two games by just five combined points before winning the third game 25-23.
Riley Duzenack led the team with nine kills and Amber Melcher had 17 points off serves but the team could not keep up with Pilot Point who won the fourth and final game 25-18.
