Anna junior Amanda Mink is known as a bit of a volleyball fanatic. It is her sport, her hobby, her obsession.

The hard-swinging hitter helped lead her high school team to the playoffs this past season, and in her off season is helping lead another team to championship levels.

Mink plays on a club team named 17 Black in the NorTex club, and over the May 4 weekend her team navigated its way through the regional round of the club playoff system to get a bid and qualify for a spot in the national tourney on June 28 in Dallas. The national tournament is also known as the Jr. Olympics of volleyball.

Mink is joined on the team by players from all over North Texas, including McKinney, Frisco, Garland, Dallas and Celina. The team is coached by Ed Garza, of Anna.
