The football team is still in the playoffs but that didn’t keep basketball from tipping off for the Cardinals. Melissa took on North Dallas Nov. 13 and Whitewright on Nov. 19, falling in both games.
The team will not be at full strength until the football team has completed its run. The boys will play at Roxon on Monday and at Sherman on Tuesday night.
Whitewright 45, Melissa 35
The Cardinals (0-2) travelled to Whitewright to take on the Tigers on Nov. 19. It was a hard-fought scrap but the Tigers took the lead early in the game and never gave it up, giving Melissa its second loss of the season.
Sheldon Moore led the Cardinals in scoring with 16 points, nine of which came from beyond the 20-foot line. Moore was 3-of-5 from the free throw line. Christian Cabil and Cory Reagan added eight points each to the score along with Kalen Price’s two-point field goal.

North Dallas 55, Melissa 50
The Cardinals took the floor at home on Nov. 13 to open the 2013-14 basketball season against the North Dallas Bulldogs. The starting lineup was comprised of Zach Padron, Cory Regan, Christian Cabil, Will Gray and Sheldon Moore.
The Cardinals took a commanding 29-18 lead into the locker room at the half but were unable to maintain the lead in the second. The Bulldogs overpowered the Cardinals in the second half and took the season opener by five points.
