The Anna Lady Coyote cross country team finished third place out of eight teams entered in the Pottsboro Cardinal Challenge on Sept. 21.

"The Celina runners won the championship while the Lady Coyotes finished with one more point than the host team from Pottsboro," Anna Coach Hoot Jones explained. "All six of the young ladies competed very well."

The following Anna runners competed: Jordan Miller, Paige Lehrmann, Raye Moran, Amanda Griffith, Dannie Garcia and Amber Ramos.

The Lady Coyote harriers will compete in the large Ken Garland/Northwest High School Cross Country Invitational at the UNT Golf Course in Denton on Sept. 28.

"We hope to have the services of three runners who have been battling the injury/health bug," Jones said.

The Anna Lady Coyote Middle School cross country team finished in second place out of seven teams entered in Pottsboro on that Saturday. The following girls are listed with their team and overall places out of 73 total entries:

Abby Sanders (4), Madison Hemmenway (6), Emily Hanna (10), Precious Antwi (17), Hannah Heath (17), Zoe Wilson (31), Lilliana Contreras (32), Laura Smith (70), Madison Condron (71) and Katelyn Rasberry (72).

"The young ladies put forth a tremendous effort," Jones said. "We are very proud of them."
