The Lady Coyotes struggled on their home court over the past two games, falling to Gunter on Sept. 6 and then Sherman on Sept. 10. Anna is looking to rebound and get back in the winning column when it travels to Sanger on Friday and in Aubrey on Tuesday.
The Lady Coyotes were good in short spurts but struggled against Sherman on Tuesday.
Sherman went up 9-1 in the opening game and, despite kills down the stretch from Amanda Mink and Mikaela Gililland, was able to win the first match, 25-10.
Anna was closer in the second game with kills from Skylar Van Norman, Denisha Hampton and Gililland keeping them in the game early. However, Sherman was able to finish with a big run to pull out the victory, 25-13.
The momentum belonged to the Lady Bearcats at that point and they took the third and final match 25-8.
Though Anna was able to stay close, Gunter led the majority of the evening, winning the first match 25-17 and then taking the second 25-21. In the third match, the Lady Coyotes trailed 11-4 but mounted a comeback that was fueled by a 14-3 run with kills from Breeanna Dilldine, Van Norman and an ace by Mink.
Anna took the lead, held onto it and then sealed the 25-20 win with a kill by Mink.
That Lady Coyote momentum spilled over into the fourth game, where they were able to build a 9-4 lead. Gunter, however, rallied with a 10-3 run and went on to win 25-19.
