In their last game before Christmas break, the Anna Lady Coyotes traveled to Mt. Pleasant on Dec. 20, falling behind early in a double-digit loss.

Anna (7-6) will play in the Leonard Christmas Tournament beginning Thursday and will play host to Denison on Monday.

Mount Pleasant 44,

Anna 30

On Friday, the Lady Coyotes traveled east and spent more time on the bus than they did on the court; they did, however, get to face an opponent that they were unfamiliar with.

Anna started slow and was never able to dig out of the hole that was created in the first half as it fell 44-30 to Mt. Pleasant.

"It was a good bonding trip to East Texas to face an athletic team," Anna Head Coach Grant Bergman said. "It took us a while to slow their pace and increase ours."

At one point, the Lady Coyotes were down 29-9.

Jaci Richardson and Mikaela Gililland led the team in scoring, while Breeanna Dilldine added a couple of key shots. The Lady Coyote defense stepped up their game in the second half, however, holding Mt. Pleasant to just seven points in the last 16 minutes of play.

"Girls responded very well after resetting our goal at half," Bergman said. "Simply, we wanted to win the second half, which we did 16-7. The home team became a bit uncomfortable late."

Anna looks to get Dei Moreno back in the upcoming weeks which should help bolster their attack.
