Anna fell in two close games over the past seven days, taking losses against Princeton and Bonham. Friday will be a non-district contest for the Coyotes before the team travels to Melissa on Tuesday night to take on the District 12-3A-leading Cardinals.
Princeton 4, Anna 1
Ty Chapman did his best to change the outcome but he couldn’t guide the Coyotes past the Princeton Panthers as Anna lost 4-1 in seven innings on Tuesday.
Chapman handled the Princeton Panthers’ lineup with ease, racking up five strikeouts. He allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks over five innings.
The Panthers never trailed after scoring two runs in the third on a two-run double. Anna scored its only run of the game on a wild pitch in the third inning when Joseph Lopez scored.
Princeton pushed across one run in both the sixth inning and the seventh.
Bonham 2, Anna 1
Jeremy Gee allowed just two runs on Friday but Anna couldn’t get the offense going in a 2-1 loss to Bonham.
The lone run of the game for the Coyotes came as Joe Loftice crossed the plate in the fourth inning on an RBI double. Bonham took the lead for good on the back of a fifth inning rally that featured two runs crossing the plate on two singles.
Greg Moses went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate for Bonham. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Anna’s Gee lasted six innings, walked two, struck out nine and allowed two runs.
