Anna had a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win on Tuesday night against Bonham but was not able to seal the deal.
Anna will have just two more games on its regular schedule to try and find a way into the postseason. The Coyotes will play their final district home game when they play host to Princeton on Friday night. Anna will have a non-district matchup at home against Van Alstyne on Tuesday night.
Jeremy Gee went 2-for-3, but the Coyotes still fell to Bonham 4-2 in seven innings on Tuesday at Bonham. After a scoreless stalemate that lasted several innings, Anna finally got on the board with one run in the fourth, scoring on an error.
But Bonham never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring four runs on a two-run error, an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk.
One run in the top of the sixth helped the Coyotes close the deficit to 4-2. An RBI single by Gee triggered Anna‘s comeback.
Community didn’t put up much of a fight on Friday as the Coyotes cruised to a blowout 8-1 win in seven innings at Anna.
The Coyotes scored three runs in the fourth on an error and a two-run single by JD Frazier.
Gee, who was hot at the plate against Bonham, racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Coyotes in this one.
Anna relied on Ty Chapman to eat up innings en route to the win. Chapman pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out four.
The Coyotes went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on two singles.
