Bailey Church was the lone Melissa Lady Cardinal at the UIL Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament to compete. She grappled with the 16 best wrestlers in her weight class from across the state as the tournament was held Feb. 14 – 15 at the Garland ISD Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

Following the first day at the state tournament Church was still competing after six other wrestlers were eliminated, including the wrestler that Bailey defeated from Houston Davis. The second day of the tournament ended in disappointment for Church as she lost to her Huntsville opponent.

Church individually finished in the top 10 in the state. Her efforts brought the Cardinals team points high enough to outscore 10 other 4A schools competing in the tournament.

"Great job Bailey Church representing the mighty Melissa cardinals at state," said Melissa coach Rick Gagarin.
