The CHANT (Christian Homeschool Athletes of North Texas) Chargers are already deep into their conditioning and preparation for the upcoming season. This will be CHANT’s first full varsity schedule, and its first year as a member of TAIAO (Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations).

"We are mature beyond the age of our players" said coach Mark Baker. "Several of these players have been together for three or four years now. They know our system and what to expect. The opportunity for us to make a deep drive towards a state title is there for us."

The Chargers play 6-man football, which is unique to the area. The DFW area has produced a handful of state champions in the past, including Dallas Covenant and Lucas Christian.

"We have our work cut out for us, but after a strong finish last season, we are returning our entire core on offense and defense. We are pleased with where we are already this early in the season. We have a tough schedule against several perennial powers in the 6-man game, but our guys are up for the challenge."

Charger home games will be played at the Anna ISD soccer facility, and home games are scheduled for Fridays on Sept. 20, Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1.

This year, CHANT will field teams at the varsity as well as the junior high levels.
