Wrapping up a whirlwind beginning to their season, Anna played in the Whitesboro tournament on Thursday and Saturday, traveled to Howe on Friday night and then played host to Blue Ridge on Tuesday. It was the third consecutive weekend that the team was involved in tournament play, and maybe the frequency of the games is starting to wear on the team.

Anna fell to Howe and Blue Ridge and were swept in their games on Saturday by Bonham and Aubrey.

"We had times this week where we played very well," Coach Tomika Crosby said. "We just need to be more focused and consistent. We have an important game on Friday and then we get a week off to help us get ready mentally for the rest of the month and our upcoming district schedule."

The Lady Coyotes will take on Gunter at home Friday and will then have a break the following Tuesday.

Blue Ridge 3,

Anna 1

The Lady Coyotes came out strong, looking to overcome the funk of the weekend, and took their first game over Blue Ridge convincingly. However, they then fell in three consecutive sets to surrender the match win.

Skylar Van Norman helped start the pace for Anna with a kill that gave her team a 3-1 advantage. A few plays later, Anna was up 8-5 and then went on a 6-0 run that included kills from Dei Moreno and Mikaela Gililland.

A tip by Amanda Mink gave Anna the lead at 22-12, and despite a short run from the Lady Tigers Anna won the opener with ease, 25-16.

Blue Ridge came out strong in the second game, taking a quick lead that it never relinquished. Breeanna Dilldine, Mink and Gililland each had a kill in the game; however, they couldn’t slow Blue Ridge, which went on to win 25-14.

The third game was much more even than the first two. Anna took an early 2-0 lead, Blue Ridge responded with five straight and the Lady Coyotes got within one on a kill from Gililland. Anna went on a 5-1 run and then scored five more points with Mink serving to take a 15-7 lead and force the Lady Tigers to call a timeout.

Anna was ahead 20-11 after a kill from Van Norman and looked like they were about to put the game away when Blue Ridge was able to take advantage of numerous Anna errors and put together a 15-4 run to take the match.

In the final game, Anna again had the lead early, up 4-0 after a Moreno kill and 8-4 after a block from Van Norman. Blue Ridge came back to tie the game at 10-10 and then took the lead and kept it for the 25-20 victory.

Howe 3,

Anna 0

On Friday night, Anna fell on the road against Howe. They fell in the first game 23-25 and that was the closest of the night. In the second game the score was 17-25 Howe. The Lady Bulldogs won the final game by 10 points.
