"The city’s west water well is down," read the Code Red and email messages to Anna residents on Tuesday evening, July 30. All outdoor watering was immediately prohibited.

Residents concerns, especially after the recent water main breaks, were however allayed as water continued to flow from faucets. The following day came the reassuring messages, again by Code Red and email, that 50 percent of water was recovered, repairs were under way, and the outdoor watering restriction was lifted, with Stage 3 watering restrictions remaining in effect.

"The west well failure was due to a major electrical failure of a control panel in the well," explained City Manager Philip Sanders.

Sanders said that the repair process continued throughout the week, a new control panel to replace the damaged one was on the way, and the city anticipates that all repairs, raising the water supply to full capacity, will be completed by Friday.
