enior Gaming Club Continues: Stop by for an afternoon of fun games and friendship on second, third and fourth Thursdays. This month we will meet on March 13, 20 and 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Melissa Public Library. Meet new friends and enjoy the afternoon.

Top-selling Science Fiction book turned film comes to Melissa Public Library this month: Ender’s Game will show March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Melissa City Hall in the Council Chambers. Be aware, this is rated PG-13 for some violence, bullying and language. One item of food each for admission, please. In April, we will be Frozen!

The Melissa Public Library has started a board game group: The next game day will be March 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Melissa Public Library, with meetings on the first and third Saturday each month. If you have questions or would like to RSVP, please email librarian@cityofmelissa.com.

Get your pens and pencils ready: The Melissa Library Scribbler’s will begin to meet the fourth Saturday of each month to encourage budding and published authors in writing and publishing their works. This will be a friendly place to share your poems and stories in an encouraging place. Please pre-register to help our planning. The first meeting is Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Save the Date: Saturday, March 29 will be a ‘Soup-er’ fun combined activity for the Melissa Public Library and the Melissa Community Outreach with food and fun from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Bring two food items per adult and one per child. It is a fundraiser, so bring second helping and dessert funds! Come see the new lobby book drop designed by our High School artists. There will be a cookbook donation table, and donations of coats, hats and sweaters will be accepted. Performances by the Melissa Youth Onstage, the Anna Strings, Melissa ISD musical ensembles and more. We are looking for soup makers and dessert bakers, so contact the librarian at librarian@cityofmelissa.com.
