Story time in the Melissa Public Library – Fridays – 10:15-11:00 a.m. – lap babies and up. Here is what is coming up next month:

· November 22 – We are thankful for Thanksgiving. Immediately after story time, from 11a.m. to noon, there will be a special presentation for parent or anyone interested in dyslexia and children. Jamie Richardson is an area author and a member of the International Dyslexia Association. She will share her insights into recognition, testing and accommodating needs for children.

· November 29 – No Story time

· December 6 – Happy Holiday Books!

· Friday, December 20, 2 p.m. (notice the time change so we can enjoy our early elementary patrons) is a half-day of school in Anna and Melissa. There will be a short musical program and more. This special story time will feature Texas author Debbie Reece sharing her acclaimed picture book, The Christmas Pumpkin. We will meet Miss Debbie in the city council chambers and hear the story. There will be a book signing in the lobby afterward and some crafts to enjoy. This will be especially fun for preschoolers through grade 4, but all are welcome. Start your holiday vacation with a traditional holiday story!.

Game days with the Seniors: Join us on the second, third and fourth Thursdays as friends of all ages meet from noon to 3 p.m. in the Melissa Public Library for fun, friendship and gentle competition. For November, the remaining date is Nov. 21. Many of our gamers are also a part of a non-denominational group that meets as the Pioneer Club on the first Thursday of each month for a potluck lunch at 10 a.m. at Frist Melissa Church. The next lunch will be Dec. 5, and if you would like to participate, bring a $5 gift for your own gender for an exchange. Also, before game time on Dec. 12, they will meet at the Melissa High School for lunch with the students.

Watch for our Friends of the Melissa Public Library to be available at the Anna Brookshire’s on Friday, Nov. 22 from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 23, from noon to 3 p.m. They have cooked up something special to commemorate the 20th year celebration of the Melissa Public Library!

The last Good Book Club of 2013 will meet Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We will restart on Jan. 28.

Time changes for the Thanksgiving Week: The Melissa Public Library will only be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, closed for Thanksgiving Day, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29 and regular hours on Saturday, Nov. 30, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thanks for your patience as we enjoy time with our families.
