Labor Day Weekend in the Library: Due to some planned network maintenance, there will be no computer access on the library computers, Wi-Fi or on the staff computer on Saturday, August 31. We will be able to check out movies and books the old-fashioned way — with paper and pen, but we cannot access any computer records. We don’t mind…tech updates are wonderful. The library and city offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.
Story Time: Join us Friday, August 30,, from 10:15-11 a.m. for Here comes the poultry! Miss Liza and her feathered friends will stop by, and she will release her pigeons after class and you can see them race home. Lap babies-and-up are welcome.

Come to the Melissa Library on Wednesday, September 4, from 9 - 10:30 a.m., for a walk-through introduction to volunteer opportunities in our communities. Your assistance is needed in many areas. Enjoy a snack and browse the displays. Meet the Friends of the Melissa Public Library, Meals on Wheels, Melissa Area Chamber of Commerce, Collin County Animal Shelter, Anna’s Coyote Call mentoring program and many more will be on hand. Representatives from Anna and Melissa and Collin County will also be there.

Game Day with the Senior Citizens of Melissa: All ages are welcome. Every second and third Thursdays, our seasoned community friends will be meeting in the community room of City Hall from noon– 3 p.m. on the second week and noon - 2 p.m. on the third for games, visiting and fun…that is, September 12 and 19.
