Coming up at Your Melissa Public Library:

Hola! There will be a free beginning Spanish class for native English speakers on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The May classes are May 8 and 22 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Melissa City Hall. This will be an informal group looking to learn vocabulary and grammar, practice some situational language or refresh your knowledge of Spanish. The instructors will be volunteers, so be prepared to step forward. Spanish-speaking friends, come out and help by conversing with these beginners and sharpen your English skills.

¡Hola! Comenzando el miércoles 3 es 22 may de 1:30-2:30 p.m. estaremos ofreciendo clases GRATUITAS de español a miembros de la comunidad de habla inglés. Game Day with the senior citizens of Melissa: All ages are welcome. Every second and third Thursdays, our seasoned community friends will be meeting in the City Hall Community Room from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second week and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third for games, visiting and fun. For May, those dates are May 9 and 16. Contact librarian@cityofmelissa.com or 402-490-6583 for questions.

Second Friday Movie Night at the library again: Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. will be the showing of ‘Les Miserables’, rated PG-13 (definitely for older children and adults.) We will show a children’s movie in the library children’s section, also. Remember, under 16-year-old children must be with a parent.

Another election day bake sale at the library: Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., stop by to vote in the courtroom and buy a treat in the library. This sale will be during the library hours, although the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This is the last day of voting.

Couponing 101 with Belinda is back: Join us on Monday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $10 for the binder and free to those just wanting to attend. Email librarian@cityofmelissa.com to reserve a binder.
