The main agenda item at Melissa’s City Council meeting on Tuesday, following two public hearing at previous council meetings, was adopting Ordinances 13-13 through 13-20 annexing eight tracts of land totaling 31 acres located along Texas 121 between Miller Road and Texas 5.
Council also approved the request by Melissa Independent School District for a single extension for temporary seating at Cardinal Stadium.
Two public hearings were held. The first was for a variance to platting requirement allowing issuance of a permit for construction of a sign which complies with complies with Melissa code. Following the public hearing the variance was approved.
The second public hearing was for amending city ordinances pertaining to zoning districts, parking requirements, conditional development standards and residential front entry garage standards. The amended ordinances were approved following the public hearing.
Mayor Reed Greer issued a proclamation designating the month of May as Motorcycle Awareness Month in the City of Melissa. The proclamation was presented to a group of area motorcyclists.
