Robert Applewhite, a Community High School teacher was arrested Jan. 22 for indecency with a child-sexual contact. The charge carries weight as it is a second-degree felony.
Applewhite, 38, is an algebra 2 teacher at CHS. A warrant issued by Denton County was acted upon by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested on a Wednesday and released the following day, according to Lt. John Norton of the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
Applewhite was a former Anna Middle School teacher and coach who was with the district from 2006 -10. He taught eighth grade math and was an assistant coach with the football and track teams. He also coached and taught in Prosper from 2010-11.
The Community ISD released a statement saying that the arrest was non-school related but could affect Applewhite’s employment status with the district. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
