The Greater Anna Special Populations PTA had 42 members join at its meeting on Sept. 30. Association organizers report that more people have joined since and people are still welcome to become a part of the PTA.

Rhonda Waites was elected President of the PTA, while Jennifer Tissue was elected First VP. Kelly Morgan was elected Second VP. Kristine Skiff was elected Secretary and Nikki Woodward was elected Treasurer. The PTA’s standing committee positions were established and all but one position filled. Those positions are parliamentarian, historian, Special Olympics liaison, Spanish community liaison, arts in education and communications.

The association has several events coming up. On Oct. 28, at Anna High School in the library, it will be hosting a guest speaker. He will be speaking about financial and life planning for the children. Child care will not be provided and due to the serious nature of this lecture organizers ask that children not attend.

Members will be participating in the silent auction at Rattan Elementary’s Fall Festival on Oct. 19 starting at 4 p.m. The PTA is still accepting donations from all who would like to donate items to be auctioned.

The PTA will also have a booth at the GlowFest event on Oct. 26 and encourages everyone in the community to stop by and learn more about the organization.
