"We had a very busy weekend" said Anna Police Sgt. Jeff Caponera.

On Saturday, May 12, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Interurban regarding an assault. Arriving officers determined that Anna resident Kevin Mieve, 51, had choked his wife during an argument. He was arrested and charged with assault restricting airway, which is a felony.

Also on Saturday officers responded to the 1300 block of Genevieva regarding possible gun shots fired. The suspect was seen firing a weapon in the air upon officers’ arrival. The suspect ran away but was apprehended later. Anna resident David Taylor, 21, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, discharging a firearm and evading arrest.

On Friday May 10, officers responded to the 1300 block of Genevieva regarding an aggravated assault. Responding officers spoke with the victim who stated that the suspect had approached him with two knives and threatened him. The victim was not injured and Anna resident William Richardson, 51, was arrested.

Some time between Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4, a known suspect injured a resident in the 1800 block of Birchwood and damaged his girlfriend’s property.

"We have suspect information and charges are pending," said Caponera.
