Nya Marquez, an 11-year-old fifth grader at Anna’s J.K. Bryant Elementary School, continues to follow her dream. The young entertainer wants to perform and act on Disney TV, have shows in front of thousands of people, model and donate to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Nya is doing all she can to make it happen. She has released two music videos on YouTube and her songs "Too Cute" and "Lil Latina Shake" are doing very well, said father Nick Marquez. She also has "Ray of Hearts," a dance team of four young talented girls performing with her.
"We are currently working with a choreographer that is putting together her live performance show, and in September Nya will be going to Los Angeles to film her third music video off her debut CD, Lil Latina Shake," said Nick. "With all the costs adding up we have turned to fundraisers and sponsorships to help Nya reach her goals."
On Saturday, August 3, Nya and the Ray of Hearts will have two shows at Dickey’s restaurant parking lot in Anna at 6:50 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. The free event, running from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will have a DJ, Dickey’s food and good fun for the entire family. Dickey’s will donate a portion of the sales to the girls.
Nya is the daughter of Anna residents Nick and Paula Marquez. To find out more about Nya go to www.nyaband.com.
