The Anna City Council special meeting on Tuesday night consisted of only one agenda item: a second public hearing (of the required two) for public comments on the proposed 2013 tax rate.
Since there were no citizens in the audience there also were no comments. The public hearing ended in less than 30 seconds.
While the proposed tax rate of $.65 per $100 property valuation is the same as the current rate, the city will realize a 7.16 percent increase in total tax revenues from the preceding year due to an increase in property values in the city as calculated by Collin County Tax Appraisal District.
The average taxable value of a residential home in Anna last year was $111,078. This year that value has increased to $116,482.
