Anna AISD administration has announced that Superintendent Larry Johnson has submitted his resignation officially effective December of 2014.
"I plan to finally retire after spending 43 years in education, 32 of them as superintendent," Johnson told The Anna-Melissa Tribune. Johnson also said that he suggested that the board start the search for a new superintendent "sooner than later," and when the new superintendent is hired he will, if needed, be available on a consulting basis.

Anna ISD is honored to announce the retirement of Superintendent Larry Johnson. Mr. Johnson has 43 years in education, with 32 years as a Superintendent. During his career he has enjoyed teaching and coaching students and leading administrators in several districts. The span of his career reached students and staff across Quinlan, Bland, Commerce and Anna.
As a true advocate for students, Mr. Johnson became very active in organizations that could help improve education. In 2006, he served as president of the Texas Association of Community Schools, as well as sitting on many educational boards throughout his career to further education and opportunity for all Texas students.
Mr. Johnson is looking forward to his new life adventure with his lovely wife, son, grandchildren and friends. Anna ISD wishes him the very best of life; the heart of such a dedicated educator will be missed by all.
