Mary Ruth (Hardin) Ruyle
VAN ALSTYNE — Mary Ruth (Hardin) Ruyle, 87, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 15, 2017. She was a resident of Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne, TX. Mary was born September 4, 1929 in Wichita Falls, TX to James Hardin and Myrtle (Tyner) Hardin.
Mary married Vernon Ruyle, Jr. on March 16, 1946. Vernon was the love of her life for 71 years. They moved to Plano, TX in 1956. Mary provided childcare in her home for 30 years before retiring due to injury in an auto accident. Mary was also a Bible class teacher at Pitman Creek Church of Christ for many years. She was affectionately known to all as “Nanny.” After retirement Mary and Vernon moved to Van Alstyne, TX to be closer to family.
Mary loved watching Texas Ranger baseball on TV and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary was a member of the Van Alstyne Church of Christ. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends.
Mary is survived by daughter, Diana Turner of Van Alstyne; foster daughter, Mary Ann Medcalf of Melissa; son Jerry Ruyle and wife Jane, of Howe.
Grandchildren, Craig Ruyle, Daniel Ruyle, Brady Stephenson; grandson-in-law, Tony Weeks, great grandsons, Toby Day and Andy Day; brother Larry Hardin and sister Dorothy Burchett; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was proceeded in death by her husband, Vernon Ruyle, Jr and granddaughter, Tiffany Weeks.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, TX. The ministers Shannon Jackson and Toby Soechting officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery in McKinney, TX.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, TX 75495.
