The summer will keep rocking on through August beginning the week of June 11 at the Melissa Public Library. All events listed begin at 10:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted.


Movie Mondays at the Library: June 11- The Incredibles; June 18- The Descendants; June 25- Beauty and the Beast.


Terrific Tuesdays — special activities for all ages held weekly at 10:30 a.m. at Melissa City Hall (check for specific location): June 12 - Collin County Farm Museum will be hosting a papermaking program. From pulp to pretties. Outside in the back. Fun for all ages; June 19 — A Frozen sing-along. Come dressed as a prince or princess or reindeer or snowman. There will be song and dance and fun for all ages; June 26 — Music and moods! Learn how use music to educate, relax, and create a fun mood. Out back. Fun for all ages!


Family Coloring Days on Wednesdays in the Library — Stop by and use our pens and books to relieve some stress. Adults to kidlets, self-directed relaxation for all ages!


Teen Thursdays — special programming weekly for ages 10 and up.


• June 21 – Teens that want to participate in the Celebration of Freedom Parade with the Melissa Public Library should bring a new or used, white t-shirt to tie dye that we’ll wear at the Parade. Then we’ll decorate the float to spew ‘patriotic-ness.’ Activity will be held outside. Meet at 4:30 p.m. in the Library.


Funky Fridays - fun activities for all ages weekly. Most Fridays kids can choose between ‘Conductors’ and ‘Maestros’ then we’ll all come together for a craft. Conductors activities are led by our Children’s Librarian, Ms. Leslie and targeted to approximately ages 7 and under. Maestros activities are led by our


Tween Librarian, Ms. Jennifer and targeted to approximately ages 8 and over.


• June 15 - ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’. Hear the legend, compete in a tournament, decorate some rocks. All will be in the Courtroom and lobby.


• June 22


o Conductors – Sweet Rocks and Roll! Candy stories and making rock candy. They will be outside.


o Maestros – BBB Club (Bluebonnet Book Club). Starting with ‘Step Right Up!’ by Donna Bowman. How Doc taught Jim, the horse, to read, write and spell. Really?


• June 29


o Conductors – Come make some noise as we learn about beats and syllables and …. skunks. They will be outside.

Child & Babysitting Safety Class to be held Saturday, June 30 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Melissa Courtroom. Learn CPR, first aid, and more! Targeted for 11-15 years old and Cost is $50. Your Melissa Public Library now has all four staff members certified as Texas Notary Publics. They will be available all hours the library is open and service ends 15 minutes before closing. Note that the library opens punctually on the hour and closes punctually on the hour. Please be aware that the patron computers are shut down 15 minutes prior to closing for troubleshooting/maintenance, the check-out computer is turned off 10 minutes prior to closing (so you have to be at the counter before that) and the doors will lock precisely on the hour. We would love to serve you all day, but life is calling us, too.
