The Melissa Schools Board of Trustees has endorsed Marcus Eckert as the acting principal at Melissa Middle School. The decision was made official following the closed session the regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, March 16.
Eckert joined the leadership team at Melissa Middle School in 2016 and has since served as the assistant principal. Earlier this month, former Melissa Middle School principal Jim Miller accepted the position of athletic director at Roosevelt ISD in Lubbock.
Kim Boedeker, Executive Director of Academic Leadership, works continually with the assistant principals at Melissa Schools as a team to cultivate grassroots leadership and growth from within, which she says ultimately prepares them to serve in the principal role.
“Mr. Eckert brings consistency and has a stellar work ethic,” said Boedeker. “He is reflective and he exemplifies our core values. I am confident that he will continue to inspire excellence in our staff and students.”
Eckert shared a statement on Thursday regarding his time in Melissa and his new role as school principal.
“I am blessed to be able to serve the students and community of Melissa as the acting principal of Melissa Middle School,” he said. “It is evident that the district and community are committed to education. It is an honor to be able to continue the tradition of excellence that Mr. Miller has established here the last three years and that the community expects. Go Cards!”
