ANNA — U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Sub-Station Sherman presented a banner to Alexandra, a senior at Anna High School, on Feb. 6, 2018 for her participation in the 2017 Semper Fidelis All-American Program and Battles Won Academy.

Alexandra was the female recipient of a $5000 scholarship during the BWA. She and a male participant were the only two chosen from the entire academy to receive this scholarship.

She was also among 12 who were selected to be featured in the months leading up to the BWA.

The BWA is a part of the Marine Corps’ SFAAP, which recognizes young men and women who excel in athletics, but have also shown themselves to be leaders in the classroom and in their hometowns.

Ninety-seven high school student-athletes attended the academy, which focused on developing their self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and honing the fighting spirit that embodies the Marine Corps.

The academy was held from July 13-17, 2017.
