The Melissa Public Library hopes to keep the spirit of giving going into the new year by helping to make the difference in the lives of others in need.
Give Blood and Save a Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27 in front of the City of Melissa Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. Carter Blood Drive will be partnering with the Melissa Public Library. Mav fans bleed blue! Give life to your community and receive an exclusive Dallas Maverick T-shirt and a BOGO ticket voucher.
Feed the Need Donation Box is in the library. Make sure no child misses lunch during breaks by helping out. The most needed items include: sandwich Ziploc bags, paper lunch bags, bags of chips, fruit cups, granola bars, applesauce, peanut butter and jelly. If you would like to volunteer to make or deliver lunches or have questions, email email@example.com.
Help out with the Community Coat and Outerwear Drive. The library is collecting donations for the good folks at Melissa Community Outreach to give out the following items to those in need in the community — coats of all size (adult and child and infant), jackets, hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, outerwear sweatshirts or sweaters and hoodies. New or clean and gently used donations are welcome. You can bring them by during the regular hours. The library will be accepting donations until Feb. 28.
Stop by the Friends of the Melissa Library Board Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 18; from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the library. Come volunteer your ideas and help in making the library your fun place. Volunteers are always welcome. Meeting take place almost monthly on the third Thursday morning.
