As reported in October, Tom Plunkett resigned from his position on the Anna School Board, leaving an opening. At the monthly Anna ISD Board of Trustees meeting, Place 1 on the board was filled.

Tiffany Terry, a loan assistant for Texas Star Bank, was appointed to the board of trustees. Terry grew up in Anna and has been with Texas Star Bank for 16 years.

Terry said this is an exciting adventure for her. “Since I grew up in Anna, and my daughter goes to school in Anna, I am beyond excited to get to work with the people I have always looked up to and admired,” she said. “To me, this is a direct compliment of my ability to do a good job and represent the district.”

Being able to give back to the community is important, Terry said. “As a single parent, I have been extremely blessed and fortunate enough to be able to take care of my daughter. I love to volunteer and give back to the community that supported me.”

Terry said she got the ‘volunteering bug’ when she started volunteering for a community organization. “I started the Ambassador program this school year,” she said.

When she was approached about the opening on the board of trustees, Terry knew the only answer was yes. “When I was approached about the school board opening, I accepted,” she said. “I have always wanted to learn more about the district and how it works and how I get to opportunity to do so.”

Terry said she has no hidden agenda for her future time on the school board, simply her love for the community. “The ability to see the programs that are offered to the kids and the ability to prepare for their future is exciting,” she said. “I have no agenda, I simply love Anna ISD. It’s as simple as that.”

Plunkett said he sees eagerness and fervor in his replacement and the other newly appointed board member, Monte Renfro. “The two temporary board member appointments come with energy and enthusiasm,” said Plunkett.

Renfro was also appointed to the school board to fill an open position. However, he was not available for comment.

Both new appointees will remain in their positions until the school board elections in May 2018. These two seats and one more will open up for the May election.
