ANNA — Crime statistics reflecting activity during 2015 in cities and towns around the country have been released by the FBI, and according to analyses performed by several online resources, Anna is among the 50 safest cities in the state.
Three websites, including Safewise (www.safewise.com), Elite Personal Finance (www.elitepersonalfinance.com) and Alarms (www.alarms.org) took the FBI numbers and conducted their own proprietary analysis and determined that, as a result of their extensive review, the City of Anna fell in the top half of the 50 safest cities in the state.
Safewise listed Anna as number 15, Elite Personal Finance listed Anna as number 16 and Alarms placed Anna at number 25 among Texas’ safest cities.
“Our inclusion on the lists of safest cities in Texas is made possible by the partnership that has been fostered between the citizens of Anna and the hardworking men and women of the Anna Police Department,” said Anna Police Chief Kenneth Jenks. “Being in the top 25 on three separate lists is a direct reflection of the type of community we have here in Anna. I am grateful to all who make it possible.”
The raw data used in the analysis included violent crimes such as murder/manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault, as well as property crimes, including burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson. To arrive at a fair comparison, the websites use their internally-developed algorithms to reach their specific conclusions on
Comparing cities of various population sizes is difficult, but standardizing raw data and taking the various differentiating factors between cities into account makes it possible to come up with the comparative rankings.
