1. Out of the Darkness Prosper Walk: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the leader in the fight against suicide. The fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. The Out of the Darkness walks provide hope for those who have lost someone to suicide. This event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 4 at Windsong Ranch Residents, 1001 Windsong Parkway S., Prosper. 2. Lord’s Acre Harvest: Lord’s Acre Harvest Festival will be held Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 303 S. Preston St., Van Alstyne. There will be children’s activities, a country store, BBQ lunch, silent auction, and live auction at 1 p.m.

3. Beginner/Intermediate Workshop $120: A three hour long beginner/intermediate level workshop is an opportunity to learn how to bring that old brown piece of furniture or kitchen cabinets back to life. No need to bring your furniture with you — just your ideas and plans. Enjoy the company of other creative people like yourself. Aprons, materials, drinks and snacks will be provided. You will be taught four painting techniques, four brush strokes and waxing and distressing methods using Chalk Paint® and Wax. You will learn how to apply your learned knowledge to paint you kitchen and bathroom cabinets. You will learn how to mix paints and discuss how to use Annie’s Color Triangle in selecting color schemes. You will be painting and waxing on sample boards that you take home with you for reference. 4. Army Golden Knight: Dana Bowman, a retired double amputee retired Army Golden Knight, will parachute onto the campus. The event will begin at 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at 6101 Grayson Dr., Denison.
