There have already been a number of fall-themed events at the Melissa Public Library in October, and the rest of the month is sure to not dissapoint.

On Oct. 26, the library will be hosting a costume party. They will be making Jack-O-Lantern luminaries and working on decorating for the children’s Halloween party the next day.

Oct. 27 is Melissa’s Huge Preschool/Homeschool Halloween Event, held fro 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The library supplies the treat bags, candy and fun. Everyone should arrive dressed for the party.

There are ten local businesses planning on being at the event to help, but the youth librarians need help from the community to man the craft tables, help the children and their parents move along and give out candy. If you would dress up and come help, you will have as much fun as the kidlets and families. Home schooled children over ten and adults are needed. Contact oburr@cityofmelissa.com to help or to include your business.

Additionally, some events in the following month have already been scheduled. Sign up now for the Child & Babysitting Safety Class on Saturday, Nov.18 fro 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the City of Melissa Community Room at City Hall. You must be registered by Tuesday, Nov. 14 and there must be five students. The cost is $50, and it is recommended for ages 11-15 years. Learn CPR, first aid and more. This is a private company supplying the class instruction.

Lastly, the Melissa Public Library will be closed at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and all day for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23. They will be open on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 24 and 25.
