Collin College is offering a free presentation, open to the public, on Monday, Oct. 2 in the Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center from 1-2:15 p.m. as part of the college’s Passport to the World event exploring the canals and culture of Scandinavia.
Join Professor Allison Venuto for highlights of her summer trip to Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Amsterdam. From hot dogs and Michelin stars to parkas and bunads, Venuto will talk about the amazing sights and experiences of Scandinavia. Discover the culture and customs of a region that consistently ranks among the happiest places on Earth.
Passport to the World is a free event series led by Collin College faculty and staff members who have traveled to a variety of global locations and share their newly-acquired knowledge about different cultures, art forms, architecture, music, religions, political systems and more.

From Sept. 27-Oct. 25, the arts gallery will host “PROOF,” photographic works by Professor Byrd Williams in the Spring Creek Campus gallery space. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Williams is a fourth-generation photographer best known for his urban work in the U.S. and Europe. He produces extremely detailed photographs, usually as triptychs, using a large format camera. Williams has taught photography for 26 years at Collin College. A published writer and international artist, his work has been shown in respectable venues and publications throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Williams will discuss his work from 12-12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Spring Creek Campus Library room L201AB. An artist’s reception will be held in the gallery from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5. Like the exhibition itself, the reception is free and open to the public.
