Davis Redi-Mix requested a rezone of 38.8 acres from agriculture to specific use with industrial zoning in order to build a concrete batch plant. The acres are located near the Highway 75 corridor and west of Telephone Road.
At Tuesday’s regularly scheduled city council meeting, City Engineer Bob Helmberger said the planning and zoning committee did not recommend approval. Don Blackwood, a lawyer representing an adjacent landowner, expressed concerns about the plant in a public hearing. Council agreed to deny the rezoning request.
Also denied was Davis Redi-Mix’s request or preliminary engineering site plan.
The Council approved a request for rezone of 4.53 acres located southwest of State Highway 121 and Miller Road. Pinnacle Montessori Franchise, LLC, requested the rezone of land from agriculture to general commercial.
The Montessori has several locations throughout North Texas, including Murphy, Frisco and Allen.
