The Anna City Council is looking for citizens to become active and involved in the city government. Anna City Council is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the board of directors of the Anna Community Development Corporation and Economic Development Corporation, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, and the Parks Advisory board.
The Anna CDC works closely with the EDC to coordinate efforts that expand the city’s business tax base. The EDC focuses on creating primary jobs within the City of Anna. City officials say the corporations together have provided incentives that resulted in much of the retail development that has occurred in Anna since 2008.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing all new commercial and residential developments that is located within the City. Members review and make recommendations to the City Council on subdivision plats, site plans, Zoning Ordinance amendments, Comprehensive Plan amendments, specific use permits and rezoning requests.
The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board — an entity that acts as an arbitrator and has judicial powers to serve as an appeal body for individuals seeking variances to the Zoning Ordinance and sign regulations; and to persons who wish to appeal a decision made by an administrative official enforcing the Zoning Ordinance.
The Parks Advisory Board works with the City Council and advises on park-related matters. The Board assists in the development of the parks master plan and reviews and recommends approval of the concept plan for new parks.
