A Tuesday’s regularly scheduled Melissa City Council Meeting Jay Northcut was voted in as the new mayor pro tem, replacing Tom Stevens, the previous mayor pro tem, who will be resigning from the council in May.


The board approved a resolution providing funding for the construction of Throckmorton Road, Davis Road and Fannin Road. Along with the city’s portion of the Green Ribbon Grant, which will go toward beautification along Highway 75 and State Highway 121.


A resolution to reimburse cost of projects passed. This will allow the city to reimburse itself for money spent on projects paid for by the city prior to the bond funds being delivered, and can be reimbursed from the bond proceeds.


Mayor Reed Greer read a proclamation declaring May 2017 as Motorcycle Awareness month.
