Driving while intoxicated — On Jan. 29 a driver struck a flat-bed trailer and then fled the scene. Police were able to get a description of the offending vehicle and found it elsewhere in the city. They jailed the driver, 29-year-old Van Alstyne resident, on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to follow his duty on striking an unattended vehicle. The driver remained in the Collin County Jail as of Monday with bail set on the two charges at a total of $2,000.
Burglary — On Jan. 28 police were called to a home in the 1600 block of Black Willow in the Oak Hollow subdivision because of an attempted vehicle burglary. Anna officers found nothing had been taken, but that there was damage to the automobile’s ignition, as if the offender was attempting to steal it. The offender(s) walked from the scene, but police were not able to find them.
Assault — On Jan. 24 police were called to a home in the 200 block of Meadowview. A 40-year-old Anna woman had assaulted her former sister-in-law. The victim’s injuries did not require medical treatment. When police attempted to arrest the woman she fought them and bit one of the officers. They took her into custody and jailed her on charges of assault causing injury and family violence, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a public servant. The suspect since posted bail and was released from jail.
