Trespassing, evading arrest — On Jan. 20 an officer on patrol saw a man at the McDonald’s store on FM 455, and knew that there had been a criminal trespass warning issued against this 19-year-old man, Police Lt. Jeff Caponera said. When the officer got out to speak with the suspect, the suspect ran away. Caponera said that police caught the suspect near the Brookshire’s store and placed him under arrest on charges of trespassing and evading arrest or detention. When searching the suspect, a routine protocol before transporting any suspect, the officer found marijuana in his possession. That added one more charge. Police jailed the suspect in the Collin County Jail, where he remained in lieu of $3,500 bail as of Jan. 23. —Mary Jane Farmer

For the first quarter of its fiscal year, October-December, they answered a total of 2,183 calls for service.
Also, Caponera said, the average response time for police calls is 4 minutes 17 seconds.
