The Melissa Christmas Parade and pre-parade activities are set for Saturday, Dec.3, 2016, and will feature a full afternoon of activities.
The Melissa Christmas Parade will be held in the evening, filled with lights and music. Festivities are slated to begin at 6 p.m.. and will travel from City Hall down Cardinal Lane South to Melissa Ridge Middle School. The Melissa High School Band and Colorguard, as well as the Melissa Middle School Band, will be featured in the parade playing Christmas music. The parade will also feature colorful floats decorated in the theme, “A Night of Christmas Lights.”
Prior to the parade, there will be activities at the Melissa High School Cafeteria beginning at 2 p.m. These activities will include a chance for children to hand-craft Christmas ornaments and gifts courtesy of the Melissa Independent School District Art Department. Children can also get their picture made with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The activities will also include vendors with crafts, merchandise and handouts. The activities at the High School Cafeteria will be from 2 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

“We expect another entertaining parade and afternoon at the cafeteria this year, and we hope you will participate in all the exciting activities planned for the day,” Executive Director of the Melissa Area Chamber of Commerce Bill Jones said. “There will be lots of fun activities for the kids at the afternoon event at the cafeteria, and lots of vendors for the adults to enjoy and pick up some Christmas gifts.
