1. Headcutters Union: Pianist Dr. John came of age in New Orleans in the 1950s, when musicians engaged in fierce jam sessions called cutting contests. From cutting contest comes “cutting,” which is attempting to outdo a competitor in playing a solo. We supply the rhythm section to lay down the beat, bring your axe and let the trading of leads begin. $100 cash to the last man standing at the end of the night. Monthly winners come back for the year end show down for a $500 cash prize plus other prizes we are in the process of stirring up from sponsors. Headcutters Union will be held from 1- 5p.m. Thursday at Six Springs Tavern, 147 N. Plano Road, Richardson. The event is free for the audience.
2. Crowder - The Texas Takeover Tour: The Texas Takeover Tour is coming back again and this time Crowder is coming along for the ride. Crowder is going to be taking over the fine state of Texas January 2018. Gather all of your friends and kick off the new year the right way - getting down with Crowder. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all ages are $25 - 40.
3. Biggest Baddest Beard Contest: Harley-Davidson of Dallas, 304 Central Expressway S., Allen, will have its biggest baddest beard contest starts at 1 p.m. Saturday. CD Beard Co will be on site to help judge. Best all around beard gets the kit. Longest Beard — measured from the bottom lip — gets a beard wash and a beard oil. Most creative beard gets a beard oil. Winners get all the bragging rights.
4. FREE Women’s Self Defense Seminar: Roser Martial Arts Center, 1915 N. Central Expressway, Suite 170, Plano, will be hosting a free women’s self defense seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. This course is designed to inoculate students to the effects of fear through physical and psychological drills that simulate the physical stress while being attacked. This seminar is especially perfect for children and teens who are starting to become more independent as well as young women who are heading off to college or anyone who just wants some piece of mind.
