Melissa Independent School District substitute teacher Candy George was named the 2017 KES Substitute Teacher of the Year for the state of Texas by Kelly Services.
George was recommended for the award by the Dallas-Fort Worth Kelly Services branch, after receiving positive feedback on her performance. She then was selected as the winner for Texas.
Kelly Services visited Melissa Ridge Intermediate on Tuesday to present George with her award.
George has served as a substitute teacher at Melissa ISD since last August, including a long-term substitute position at Melissa Ridge Intermediate.
“The DFW Branch heard nothing but great words about her and she was regularly asked to return to classrooms where she’d subbed,” Kelly Services representative Victor Garcia said. “Substitute Teacher of the Year is the highest honor a KES employee can earn.”
