GriefShare is a Biblically-based, non-denominational program designed to minister to the long-lasting, persistent needs of those people who have lost a loved one through death. GriefShare is a seminar/small group support program.
A new cycle of GriefShare ministry sessions will begin on at 2 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2017, in the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne portable buildings. First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne is located at 121 E. Marshall St., along the southeast corner of Highway. 5 and Marshall Street in Van Alstyne. The meetings will be held each Sunday afternoon for 13 weeks and will be taught by Jack Washington. Each weekly session is designed to be self-contained, so missing a weekly session during the 13-week period will not be disruptive.
The 13-week video based program features respected Christian experts sharing their insight on topics important to people in grief. The GriefShare program also includes personal testimonies from people who have lost a loved one. Each person attending will receive a workbook which will directly correspond to the video seminars with a note-taking outline for each video session, a daily Bible study on topics introduced on the videos, and a weekly journaling section. The cost of a workbook is $15. The workbook will be kept by participants.
The 13 GriefShare sessions are free of charge. Contact the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne office at 903-482-6334, or visit the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne website and register online at www.fbcva.com. To register online, through the FBCVA home page, go to “Ministries”, and then click on “GriefShare.” Free child care is provided as long as the need is made aware through the registration process. All are welcome.
