On Oct. 19 the Coyote Marching Band traveled to Princeton to compete in the UIL Region 25 marching contest. Performing their 2016 show titled “Rojo: Danzas de Amor,” the band was awarded its seventh-consecutive Division 1 rating, earning them a spot in this year’s UIL Area B marching contest.

On Oct. 29 the Coyote Marching Band traveled to Denton to compete in the 2016 UIL Area B marching contest. Twenty three bands from area class 4A schools were there to compete for one of four spots in this year’s UIL State marching contest. The Coyote Marching Band’s performance in preliminary competition earned them a top-10 ranking and a spot in the finals. In the finals, the band put on their best performance of the season, and managed to move up in the overall rankings. In the end, however, the band finished just outside the coveted top 4, thus ending their marching competition season tantalizingly short of their goal of competing in the state marching contest.

By any measure, the 2016 marching season was a resounding success. Many thanks go out to the band directors, parents, band boosters, AISD administration and board members and to the entire Anna community for their support of the Coyote Marching Band.
