Grayson, Fannin counties candidates list

Candidates throughout Grayson and Fannin counties will hold their breaths May 8 when voters go to the polls to elect their local mayors and city council and school board members.

In some areas, candidates are unopposed and elections will likely be canceled; in some, as many as 10 candidates will battle over three seats; and in some, no candidates have filed. However, while the regular filing date has passed, potential candidates can run as a write-in candidate, but they must file by March 15. To file, a person must contact his or her local city secretary or school district administration.

Listed below are those who filed as regular candidates. Incumbents are marked with and 'i' following their names. Any school district or city not listed could not be reached via phone by deadline Wednesday. They may contact the Herald Democrat with a list of their candidates by calling 903-893-8181.

Bells : 4/18/2010
Could it be that the former Bells police chief and former Bells officer know what needs to be changed since they were on the inside? Maybe if they are elected to these seats, the City of Bells can relax and get back to the town it was! This is a wonderful city, and, fresh blood and ideas may be just what it needs. I hope Tommy Carter does win, due to the fact that he must and does care about Bells, and, wants to see it put back on the right road to recovering what it once had, and, that is to be a GREAT FAMILY town.

Outside looking in!!!

Out with the old : 4/4/2010
One of the candidates running for Bells City Council, should worry more about issues on his own homefront than trying to take on the issues with the City of Bells.

Quality Candidates

In With the New : 3/16/2010
looks suspicious that the Former Chief of Police and Former Police Officer of Bells is now running for City seats. Is there a hidden agenda there? Payback maybe?

New controversy

Bells Election : 3/11/2010
Bells Needs a brand new seat... completely... OUT with the current mayor and family members running our office and out with the ones that messed the system up the first time they were on the city council that are running again this election. Enough is enough people if you care about your city get out and vote. Don't sit around and complain about what is wrong when you don't even care enough to go vote. Lets get a fresh start with new blood in Bells and be proud of where we live and get rid of the corruption that is currently in place and from the past and start anew.

Out with the old IN WITH THE NEW

Interesting : 3/11/2010
Well, I see that Whitewright has someone who has stepped up to run for Mayor after many years. I feel that after someone has been in office for over 20 years, it is time for some fresh eyes and ideas. Go Jim!
